The Tournament Players Club (TPC) Jasna Polana golf course property, which spans Princeton and Lawrence Township, has been sold to the Florida-based Concert Golf Partners.

Concert Golf Partners paid $26 million for the 222-acre property in a deal that closed last month. TPC Jasna Polana’s combined assessment for property tax purposes in Princeton and Lawrence Township is $33.1 million.

TPC Jasna Polana is located at 4519 Province Line Road in Lawrence Township, but the majority of the property is in Princeton. It has frontage on Province Line Road and on Route 206/Lawrenceville Road.

When Jasna Polana was placed on the market for sale, Princeton officials quickly quashed any suggestions that the property would be developed for housing. It is not zoned for residential housing.

Concert Golf Partners was one of 20 bidders for TPC Jasna Polana. It becomes the 34th golf club in the company’s portfolio, officials said. It owns golf clubs in Florida, California, North Carolina and Oklahoma.

Jasna Polana, or “bright meadow” in Polish, was built in 1975 by Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical heir J. Seward Johnson Sr. and his third wife, Barbara “Basia” Piasecka Johnson.

The 46,000-square-foot mansion was designed by architect Wallace Harrison. He also designed Rockefeller Center, Lincoln Center and the United Nations headquarters in New York City.

Johnson died in 1983. His widow converted Jasna Polana into an exclusive golf course in 1998, with the mansion as its clubhouse. The PGA TOUR’s TPC Network managed the facility for Piasecka Johnson. Professional golfer Gary Player designed the 18-hole golf course.

There are two private lodges on the property that have 16 bedrooms for overnight guests. It also features event spaces, a tennis court and gardens with a reflecting pool. More than 100 works of art were included in the sale, and will remain on the property.

Concert Golf Partners plans to invest $3 million in amenities at Jasna Polana to enhance and complement the golf course and clubhouse.

Jasna Polana has an immense history that extends from its ties to the Piasecka Johnson family to its role in professional golf as a past host of the PGA TOUR champions and the Wonderful World of Golf match between golfers Tom Watson and Hal Sutton, said Jordan Peace, senior vice president of corporate development at Concert Golf Partners.

“We are extremely selective about the clubs we add to our portfolio. We are honored to be the new stewards of this world-class club,” Peace said.

“Our mission is to preserve and enhance great private clubs, while honoring their culture and traditions in new and exciting ways.”
