The seat was for one three-year term on the Township Committee. Democrats will continue to hold all five seats on the governing body next year when Purandare is sworn in.

“I want to take a moment to extend my sincere gratitude to each of you for re-electing me to the Hopewell Township Committee seat,” Purandare wrote in a Facebook social media post on Nov. 8. “I am truly honored and humbled by the trust you have placed in me.

“I look forward to continuing our work together along with my fellow Committee members to make Hopewell Township an even better place. Together, we can achieve great things! Thank you once again for your support and encouragement.”

More than of 10,000 votes had been cast in the race.

The official vote counts by the Mercer County Clerk’s Office on Nov. 21 included early voting, mail-in ballots, Election Day voting and provisional ballots.
