The City of Bordentown has now partnered with BookDrop, a company whose mission is to put more books in the hands of readers, and to recycle the books they can’t repurpose. They even accept encyclopedia’s, dictionaries, school textbooks and comic books.

BookDrop saves over 1 million books from the landfill each month by partnering with thrift stores, libraries, and other organizations, according to its website.

The organization partners with thrift stories, libraries, and nonprofits.

Each month BookDrop saves 50,000 trees, 825 metric tons of carbon and 594,000 gallons of water. Over 100,000 books end up back in readers hands. This program saves 1.5 million books from the landfill while recycling over 750 tons – 50% of these recycled books will be enjoyed again by another reader and the remainders are turned into new products.

Tired of your books collecting dust? Give them a new life with BookDrop. The book collection box is located in front of the City of Bordentown Municipal Complex, 101 E. Park Street Bordentown.
