The Hightstown Police Department received its first accreditation through the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police.
Accreditation Program Director Harry J. Delgado from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police presented the department’s first accreditation certificate at a council meeting on April 7.
The status of being an accredited law enforcement agency represents a significant professional achievement. The accreditation program is a nationally-certified program designed to enhance professionalism and transparency in the state’s public safety system. Accreditation helps law enforcement agencies evaluate and enhance their performance by adopting clear professional standards and implementing best practices. The process of attaining accreditation included a comprehensive self-analysis of agency policy and operations that culminated in with an independent, on-site audit by a team of assessors who found that this agency exceeded the standards.
“This achievement is a positive reflection on the police department, it’s officers, and the Borough of Hightstown,” Chief Frank Gendron said, adding gratitude to Lt. Benjamin Miller who served as the department’s accreditation manager.
Recent achievements
Lt. Benjamin Miller and Sgt. Ronald Stephensen successfully completed and graduated from the NJSACOP Command and Leadership Academy earlier this year.
The Command Leadership Program is a challenging 13-week course that was developed through the United States Military Academy at West Point in collaboration with highly-experienced law enforcement practitioners and specialists. This program is recognized as one of the nation’s premier law enforcement leadership development courses.
“Lt. Miller and Sgt. Stephensen’s achievement reflects their dedication to leadership and supporting those they lead,” the department said in a post on its Facebook page.
