A tradition of fun, butterflies, and hands-on learning once again celebrates nature when the Watershed Institute’s Annual Butterfly Festival returns for a 26th year.

Residents and visitors are invited to the festival, which is taking place on Aug. 1. Attendees are not only going to be able to learn about protecting nature’s waterways and habitats, but also butterflies and insects.

The all-day festival will occur from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Watershed Institute at 31 Titus Mill Road in Pennington.

Adults and children will be able to get up close and personal with butterflies and participate in arts and crafts, touch fish, visit the Insect Zoo, and enjoy the Eyes of the Wild Animal Show.

There will be science exhibits, butterfly house tours, a butterfly and insect parade, live music and performances, animal exhibits by “Eyes of the Wild Animal Show”, hayride tours, and crafts.

Close to 1,200 people have attended the festival before as each child and family are able to enjoy the Kate Gorrie Butterfly House, hayrides, and the Butterfly and Bug Parade.
