A 2026 Freightliner truck that was transporting diesel fuel overturned on its passenger side after the rear tires left the road on Township Line Road on Sept. 17. Montgomery Township Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 and the Somerset County Hazardous Materials Response Team were sent to the site after a small amount of diesel fuel leaked out of the truck. The truck’s contents were transferred to another truck. The driver was not injured.
A neuro-divergent juvenile was reunited with his parents in a Belle Mead neighborhood shortly after he was reported missing to police on Sept. 6. A few minutes after arriving in the neighborhood, a police officer found him and reunited him with his parents.
Someone stole used cooking oil from Tito’s restaurant on Wall Street in an incident of theft that was reported on Sept. 5. An employee discovered the theft after noticing damage to the cooking oil container. The used cooking oil was valued at $500.
An elderly man suffering from a neurocognitive disease was located on Route 518 after he was reported missing by the Hillsborough Township Police Department on Sept. 4. A police officer found him after using the Flock Safety automatic license plate reader. The officer coordinated with the Hillsborough Township Police Department to bring a family member to the location, who then drove the man and his vehicle back to their home.
A thief stole used cooking oil valued at $1,200 from the Tiger’s Tale restaurant on Route 206. The theft was reported on Sept. 3 after it was discovered by an employee of the cooking oil recycling company who had arrived to remove the cooking oil.
A 71-year-old Skillman man was charged with careless driving, failure to report an accident and leaving the scene of an accident after his pickup truck struck the rear of another vehicle on Route 205 near Nevious Boulevard on Aug. 20. Police used the Flock Safety automatic license plate reader to locate the pickup truck and its driver.
