A celebration for the 250th anniversary of America’s Independence is occurring this weekend on the grounds of Woolsey Park.
Hopewell Township is commemorating the 250th anniversary of American Independence with a day fill with learning history, games, music, food and activities at Woolsey Park on Oct. 3.
The free event for township residents and Hopewell Valley residents takes place from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
There will be live performances, historical reenactors, and historic exhibits for people to engage in and view.
The event schedule is as follows:
12:00 p.m. – Event begins
1:00 p.m. – Main program begins: opening from the official Hopewell Township “Town Crier,” Stanley Saperstein
1:05 p.m. – Pledge of Allegiance: led by the Hopewell Township Honor Guard, Girl Scout Service Unit 701, and Boy Scout Troop 44
1:10 p.m. – National Anthem, led by Joseph Novak and members of the Hopewell Valley Regional School District Choir
1:15 p.m. – Opening remarks from elected officials
1:30 p.m. – Honoring Our Volunteers: Presented by Mayor David Chait
2:00 p.m. – Guest speaker: Dr. Ronald Rinaldi as “George Washington”
3:00 p.m. – Raffle drawing
4:00 p.m. – Event ends
