Rider University’s student-run radio station, 107.7 The Bronc, has been named the 2026 College Radio Station of the Year by the National Association of Broadcasters.

The Lawrenceville-based station received the honor at the NAB’s annual Marconi Radio Awards ceremony Tuesday, Oct. 20, in New York City, marking its first win after being nominated six times in the past seven years.

The award is among the broadcasting industry’s highest honors, recognizing excellence among radio stations across the country.

For the students who operate the station, the recognition was the culmination of years of work by current staff members and their predecessors.

“To be nominated for a Marconi Radio Award is so surreal. To win is even more incredible,” said Kadie DiGiuseppe, a senior sports media major and the station’s student general manager. “The list of people to thank goes on and on; the list of people that worked for this is even longer. 107.7 The Bronc is such a unique place where we are able to create friendships, amazing content and great events, but I still could have never dreamed of winning radio’s biggest award. I am so grateful.”

The Bronc, which broadcasts as WRRC-FM, was one of five finalists for the national award. The other nominees represented Nassau Community College in New York, Montclair State University and Seton Hall University in New Jersey, and the University of West Georgia.

The station’s six nominations came in 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2025 and 2026.

“The outpouring of support we received, not only from radio professionals but also from fellow colleges, was overwhelming, to say the least,” said Dan Loges, a junior arts and entertainment industries management major. “It was an honor just to be nominated, and winning is an honor that’s difficult to put into words.”

The national recognition follows several other honors for the station. In February, The Bronc received three Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Media Awards, adding to a growing collection of broadcasting accolades.

The station has also expanded its capabilities in recent years, introducing live video streaming of student programs and providing opportunities for students to report from the sidelines during live sports broadcasts.

Students gain hands-on experience in broadcasting, news reporting, sports coverage, production, promotions, digital media, video production and social media.

Beyond its regular programming, The Bronc organizes campus activities and traditions, including Scream Screen, an annual Halloween event held each October.

John Mozes, the station’s general manager and executive director of Rider’s Student Media Center, said the award reflects the dedication of generations of student broadcasters.

“I couldn’t be more proud of and happy for this group of students who pour their hearts and souls into creating content for 107.7 The Bronc 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year,” Mozes said. “I’m also proud of and happy for all of the 107.7 The Bronc alumni whose hard work and dedication paved the way for this edition of student broadcasters to earn the NAB’s coveted College Radio Station of the Year award.”

The station operates from studios in Rider’s Fine Arts building and also offers an online companion station, 107.7 The Bronc Retro. Both provide students with experience using professional broadcasting equipment and technology.

Established in 1989 and named for inventor and Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi, the NAB Marconi Radio Awards recognize outstanding radio stations, personalities, podcasts and industry leaders.

The annual awards are determined by the NAB Marconi Radio Awards Selection Academy, following the selection of finalists by a committee of broadcasters.

For Rider’s student broadcasters, the 2026 award represents a milestone that had eluded the station through five previous nominations.

The national honor also recognizes the work of former students who helped establish The Bronc’s reputation and the current students who have continued to build on that foundation.
