A Ewing Township man who led police on a chase on Route 31 is facing multiple charges, including eluding police, according to the Hopewell Township Police Department.

The man was arrested on Oct. 6 in the incident, which occurred on April 12. A police officer on patrol on Route 31 noticed the man’s car had tinted windows and lacked a front license plate. The officer attempted to stop the driver for the violations, but the driver accelerated to get away from him.

The police officer called off the chase in the interest of public safety after the driver passed another vehicle in a no-passing zone and continued to drive at a high rate of speed.

Based on the vehicle’s license plate information and a follow-up investigation, police identified the driver and issued a warrant for his arrest.

The driver was charged with eluding police, obstruction of the administration of law, resisting arrest, reckless driving, speeding, improper passing, unsafe lane change, driving without a license and driving while his license was suspended.
