As the world celebrates the 55th anniversary of Earth Day, Coalition for Peace Action (CFPA) is co-sponsoring a webinar – The Intersection of Climate, Nuclear Weapons, and Peace.
On April 22, the free webinar co-sponsored by CFPA takes place from 7-8:30 p.m. through Zoom.
“Our co-sponsorship is part of CFPA’s No Wars, No Warming Campaign, and I will be among the presenters to present the intersection between dealing with the Climate Emergency and the rapidly increasing Nuclear Weapons Threat,” said Rev. Robert Moore, executive director of CFPA.
Presenters for the webinar are Moore, Rev. Vernon Walker, Pennsylvania State Rep. Chris Rabb, and Christiaan Morssink, interim president of United Nations Association of Greater Philadelphia (UNA-GP).
Moore has been working for peace as executive director of Coalition for Peace Action (CFPA) since 1981. CFPA’s founding mission of the global abolition of nuclear weapons has expanded to include the climate crisis as a twin existential threat.
Walker is currently the Director of Content and External Strategy at the Progress and Poverty Institute located in Princeton. Prior to that he spent many years organizing for climate and social justice causes.
He was born and raised in Philadelphia, where he is currently an Associate Minister at the Deliverance Evangelistic Church. Walker was ordained in 2015 and formerly served as an associate pastor at the Berachah Church located in Boston.
Rabb is an American politician, professor, and author. A Democrat, he is a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing the 200th District since 2017.
He is a member of the Center for Climate Integrity’s Leaders Network, a nationwide coalition of public officials who support holding oil and gas corporations accountable for their climate deception and the damage it has caused.
Morssink is interim president of United Nations Association of Greater Philadelphia (UNA-GP), and Emeritus Board Member and Past President of Global Water Alliance. He has 30 plus years of practice and teaching experience in public health and related fields in the Netherlands, the U.S., and Republic of Suriname.
