Fire damages Twin Rivers townhouse

A townhouse in the Twin Rivers neighborhood was heavily damaged by fire on March 3, leaving its occupants homeless, according to the East Windsor Police Department.

The fire at 667 Ithaca Place was reported shortly after 2 p.m. The first police officers on the scene found the townhouse was filled with smoke. The occupants of adjacent units had evacuated their homes, police said.

Volunteer firefighters quickly knocked down the fire and held it to the room where it started, according to a Facebook post by East Windsor Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2. The cause of the fire is believed to be non-suspicious.

The townhouse suffered fire and water damage, and was deemed uninhabitable, police said. The displaced residents made temporary arrangements to stay at alternative locations.

There were no injuries to firefighters, residents or police officers.

Firefighters from East Windsor Township, Monroe Township, Hightstown, Robbinsville Township, Millstone Township and Plainsboro Township responded to the fire. Capital Health EMS also responded to the scene.
