Man faces charges after vehicle struck parked car

A Highlands man is facing multiple charges for allegedly fleeing after his vehicle struck a parked car on West Broad Street in Hopewell Borough in a March 24 incident, according to the Hopewell Township Police Department.

A caller told police that the man’s vehicle struck a parked car and that the driver was allegedly attempting to flee in the incident, which was reported at 9:54 p.m.

A police officer found the suspect’s vehicle on West Broad Street, slightly further away and stopped in the roadway. The officer made contact with the driver, who was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving and careless driving.

The man was also charged with failure to maintain lane, driving while suspended, failure to produce a driver’s license, registration and insurance documents and being an unlicensed driver, police said.

He was also found to have an active National Crime Information Center (NCIC) warrant.

The man was processed and taken to the Mercer County Correction Center.
