Congressman Andy Kim hosted his 76th town hall as a telephone town hall to hear directly from neighbors, share updates from his recent work in Congress, and recognize National Gun Violence Awareness Month on June 26.

Kim began his town hall by addressing the egregious New Jersey Transit and Amtrak delays impacting New Jersey commuters and his efforts to find immediate solutions to these service interruptions, including sending a letter with the full New Jersey delegation demanding an extensive and immediate investigation by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

During his town hall, Kim also addressed the need for continued legislative action to end the gun violence epidemic, and was joined by Aditya Bala, founder and director of the East-Windsor-Hightstown Kindness Initiative at Hightstown High School, who spoke about their work to support young people’s mental health needs and promote kindness in our community to help combat violence, bullying, and hate.

Before answering questions from neighbors, the Kim spoke about the week’s votes on the first of 12 appropriations bills and his frustration “as Republicans continue to push hyper-partisan provisions into what should be bipartisan legislation that helps keep our government functioning and should deliver for Americans’ needs first.” He also expressed his disappointment in the Supreme Court’s Snyder v. United States decision and his ongoing work to restore Americans’ trust in government, including through legislation to take on issues like bribery and stock-trading.
