Due to the thunderstorms that rolled in on Aug. 6, the Hillsborough Police Department cancelled what would have been its second annual National Night Out.

Police had announced the cancellation through a message and hope to reschedule for early September.

“Hillsborough Township and the Hillsborough Police Department apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to seeing everyone at the future National Night Out event,” the message stated.

Hillsborough’s National Night Out was to be held at Mountain View Park with township and local first responders, a K9 Demo, local food and business vendors, a dunk tank, face painting, a DJ and more.

Since 1984, National Night Out has been held on the first Tuesday in August. It is intended to forge a bond between local police and the residents they serve.
