The Bordentown Township Veterans Advisory Committee has selected Lt. Col. Amy Glatz, U.S. Army (Ret.), as the Township’s 2026 Hometown Hero. The honor recognizes a resident whose service to the nation and to the community reflects the very best of Bordentown Township. Lt. Col. Glatz will be recognized at the Township’s Veterans Day Ceremony on Saturday, November 7, at 11 a.m. at the Senior Center, on 3 Municipal Drive.
Lt. Col. Glatz served more than 27 years in the New Jersey Army National Guard after graduating from Class 43 of the State Officer Candidate School in Sea Girt. In 2003, she deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as a transportation officer, earning two Army Commendation Medals for her service there.
After returning home, she held multiple roles, including headquarters detachment commander, executive officer, human resources manager, equal opportunity staff officer and State Equal Employment Manager. While in full-time service with the National Guard, she played a key role in shaping the organization’s readiness and resiliency initiatives, including family programs, sexual assault prevention and response, suicide prevention, drug testing and equal employment opportunity. She received the Meritorious Service Medal for her years of service to the nation and the Army National Guard.
“Amy has spent her life showing up for others, in uniform and here at home,” said Bryan Branson, Chairman of the Bordentown Township Veterans Advisory Committee. “The Committee is proud to recognize a neighbor whose service continues to make Bordentown Township stronger.”
Lt. Col. Glatz’s commitment to service extends well beyond the military. She holds a Master of Divinity from New Brunswick Theological Seminary and is serving her second term on the Bordentown Regional School District Board of Education. She also recently completed her first half marathon.
“Lt. Col. Glatz represents the very best of our community,” said Mayor Aneka Miller. “Her decades of service, her leadership on our school board, and her care for others make her a true Hometown Hero, and we’re grateful to call her one of our own.”
A longtime Bordentown Township resident, Lt. Col. Glatz lives in the Township with her husband, Master Sgt. Andrew Glatz (Ret.), and their daughters, Lilyann and Chloe.
