A 24-year-old East Windsor Township man has been charged with misuse of 911 and obstruction after allegedly calling 9-1-1 and demanded police give him a ride from the Windsor Hotel to Wawa, according to the East Windsor Police Department.

A police officer responded to the hotel on Route 33 on Dec. 23 and told the caller that 911 was only to be used for emergencies, police said. The police officer left the hotel.

The Windsor Hotel staff offered to help the man, but he called 911 repeatedly after the police officer left. He allegedly called the emergency phone number 17 times, police said.

The police officer went back to the hotel and placed the man under arrest. He was taken to police headquarters, but refused to comply with processing and was charged accordingly, police said.
