The cause of several loud bangs – suspected of being gunshots – in the area of Taylor Terrace is under investigation by the Hopewell Township Police Department.

Police were called to the area of Taylor Terrace on the edge of Hopewell Borough at 3 a.m. Nov. 14 on the report of several loud bangs. A resident called police and said they heard what they thought were gun shots.

A police officer arrived on the scene within one minute, but could not find the source of the sounds or any disturbance, police said.

Police were called back to the scene several hours later after a passerby found some bullet casings. Police searched the area and found several more bullet casings in the road that appear to have been discharged from a handgun.

The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information about the loud noise is asked to call Officer Christopher Vaccarino at (609) 737-3100, ext. 5480 or to email the officer at cvaccarino@hopewelltwp.org.

Persons may also use the Hopewell Township Police Department’s tipline by emailing tipline@hopewelltwp.org.
