Hillsborough Education Foundation (HEF) has a brand new website thanks to local business owner Billy Bender of Bender Digital Solutions for his pro bono redesign.

“We are so thrilled with the work that Billy did on our website,” said HEF president Linda Cummings. “The website is already helping us raise awareness for our cause. Billy listened to our needs and evaluated our current website. He took all our concerns into consideration, gave wonderful direction and the end result is exactly what we had hoped our website would be.”

Bender’s business provides digital marketing solutions designed to meet the needs of businesses whose customers are local to them.

HEF’s mission is to strengthen the bridge between the community and Hillsborough Township Public Schools by encouraging community involvement and financial support to enhance public education for students at all levels. Since its inception in 1996, they have provided over $325K in grants to teachers and funded innovative programs such as the Robotics Club and the first artificial turf field at Hillsborough High School in 2020.

Funding also supported the purchase of a picnic table at Triangle Road Elementary school, outdoor equipment at each elementary school, a storage cabinet at Amsterdam Elementary School, calming vests and blankets at Triangle Road Elementary school’s special education classroom, and boxes of vocational skills equipment for Hillsborough Middle School special education classroom.

By the numbers, HEF has supported 7,000 plus students, 600 plus teachers and nine schools.

One of HEF’s longest running programs has been granting scholarships to graduating Hillsborough High School seniors. And they recently did just that. Luke Neilan received HEF’s 2024 Senior Scholarship. He plans to attend Loyola University in the fall.

Education foundations promote excellence in education by funding activities that would not otherwise be funded through the traditional school district budget. HEF seeks to engage Hillsborough Township Public Schools alumni, parents, business leaders, community members and organizations to harness private resources to support public education. HEF further seeks to offer opportunities for community members to become involved with the advancement of public school education.
