Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) has a new home for its administrative offices.

PSO held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Sept. 26 to celebrate the move of its administrative offices from the Princeton Charter School to the new office location at 1000 Herrontown Road.

The nonprofit music organization that presents orchestral, pops, and chamber music programs and performs at Richardson Auditorium on the Princeton University’s campus had to move its administrative offices because they had doubled their administrative staff and outgrew the space.

“We were bursting at the seams, particularly as the pandemic eased and our staff began to transition from remote work to a full return to the office,” Executive Director Marc Uys said.

Uys and Stephanie Wedeking, who is the chair of the Board of Trustees, informed others that the organization was seeking new space for its administrative staff, according to PSO.

With the help of Experience Princeton, which is the nonprofit overseeing Princeton’s special improvement district (SID), a connection was made between Uys and Charlie Yedlin, who is the president of the Yedlin Company, a property management firm that oversees the buildings at 1000 Herrontown Road.

The office spaces in the two-story building between Route 206 and Mt. Lucas Road would be reconfigured by Yedlin with architect and interior designer Sheila Nall.

“Stephanie and I met with Charlie and Sheila regularly to ensure that our entire full-time staff of 12 would fit comfortably,” Uys said. “We also created a flexible conference room space with a table which breaks down into multiple desktops in anticipation of seasonal staff brought on board each year to assist with the Princeton Festival.”

Aubrey Haines, a member of Experience Princeton’s Board of Directors, added, “We look forward to being partners with the Princeton Symphony to help promote the area and to work together synergistically on our marketing efforts, and to bring people to the town and really have them enjoy their time here.”

With the new administrative offices there is no public box office at the organization’s staff site at 1000 Herrontown Road.

The orchestra itself is led by Edward T. Cone, Music Director Rossen Milanov and has musicians from New Jersey, New York, and Philadelphia. The PSO music organization presents the Princeton Festival each year.
