A 31-year-old Philadelphia woman has been charged with hindering apprehension and may face additional charges after allegedly taking part in a shoplifting incident on Hulfish Street, according to the Princeton Police Department.

Police responded to the store shortly before 6 p.m. Jan. 29 after receiving several 9-1-1 calls about a shoplifting in progress involving four suspected shoplifters.

Two men and two women went into the store, grabbed merchandise and stuffed the items into bags and left the store, police said. They fled in a gray Tesla.

A few minutes later, police received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting that a gray Tesla had been involved in a crash on Olden Lane, off Mercer Street. Five occupants in the car fled on foot.

Police quickly apprehended the woman and a juvenile near the crash and began a search for the remaining suspects, with the help of neighboring police departments.

The Hopewell Township Police Department and the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office were called in and used drones in the search for the suspects, police said.

The West Windsor Police Department sent a K-9 unit to help in the search, but with no success.

The woman who was apprehended was also found to have an active warrant from Bucks County, Pa. She was processed and taken to the Mercer County Correction Center.

The juvenile was released to a guardian.
