“We are thrilled that Gary Dorsi accepted the position as the new Hopewell Township Health Officer,” Mayor Courtney Peters-Manning said. “He is a certified health officer, certified health education specialist (CHES), and a registered environmental health specialist (REHS), among several other certifications.

“He has 10 years of experience in public health, and he most recently was the assistant health officer at the Northwest Bergen Regional Health Commission.”

Peters-Manning added that Dorsi stood out among several candidates, and they look forward to his first day on July 22.

“He had stellar references, and everyone who interviewed him at the township, including our administrator, myself, the deputy mayor, and several health department employees, spoke very highly of him,” she said.

Dorsi will have an annual salary of $113,000. He succeeds former health officer Dawn Marling, who resigned from the department. Marling served during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dorsi has worked in public health departments in Bergen, Essex, and Passaic counties.
