A house on Cleveland Road was heavily damaged by fire June 13, according to the Hopewell Township Police Department.
The fire was reported at 6:40 a.m. by a passing motorist and a neighbor. The first police officers on the scene found the house fully involved in flames. The house, which was unoccupied and under construction at the time of the fire, suffered extensive damage.
The Pennington Fire Department began to put out the fire upon arrival, police said. The Hopewell Valley Emergency Services, the Hopewell Fire Department, the Union Fire Company and the Lawrence Township Fire Department assisted the Pennington Fire Department.
The Princeton Fire Department, the Ewing Township Fire Department, the Montgomery Fire Department, the Plainsboro Fire Company and firefighters from Hunterdon and Bucks counties also responded, police said.
The preliminary investigation of the fire did not find anything suspicious, police said. The source of the fire is under investigation by the Hopewell Township Police Department, the Hopewell Valley Emergency Services and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
