Three drivers suffered non-life threatening injuries in a multiple-car crash at the intersection of Ingleside Avenue and Route 31 June 21, according to the Hopewell Township Police Department.
The crash happened when the 17-year-old driver of a Jeep, which was traveling on Ingleside Avenue, failed to stop before attempting to cross Route 31, police said.
The Jeep struck a Mazda being driven by a 28-year-old Hamilton Township man that was headed south on Route 31, police said. The impact caused the Mazda to strike a Ford pickup truck that was headed north on Route 31.
The Ford pickup truck, which was being driven by a 49-year-old Florida man, was towing a large trailer with a boat, police said. The pickup truck jackknifed and became disabled.
Route 31 was closed for more than one hour so the scene could be cleared.
The driver of the Jeep may have suffered a concussion, police said. The driver of the Mazda had injuries to his abdomen and legs, and the driver of the pickup truck received injuries to his left arm and left side ribs.
The Hopewell Township Police Department responded, along with the Pennington Fire Department, the Hopewell Valley Emergency Services Unit, Capital Health EMS and the Hopewell Emergency Medical Unit.
The crash is under investigation by the Hopewell Township Police Department.
