East Windsor Township has a number of summer fun events coming up at Etra Lake Park.
First on Saturday, July 6, the East Windsor Township Independence Day celebration will be held at the park, 59 Disbrow Hill Road. The rain date is Saturday, July 13.
The Independence Day celebration free entertainment begins at 6 p.m. with Jerry Rife’s Rhythm Kings Dixieland Jazz Band, a six-piece band from the Delaware Valley area, best known for its traditional jazz sound. They will be followed at 7:45 p.m. by the Trenton Brass Quintet Plus One, a six-piece ensemble from Central Jersey performing Americana and a variety of popular melodies.
The fireworks display will commence immediately following the musical presentations, at
approximately 9:30 p.m.
“Our nation’s Independence Day is a great occasion for our residents to join together in celebration and recognition of our blessings of liberty and freedom,” East Windsor Township Mayor Janice Mironov said, urging everyone to, “bring your blankets and chairs, and use the barbecue grills for a night of free fun at beautiful Etra Lake Park.”
There also will be vendors present for purchase of refreshments. The free event is made possible
through the generous contributions of many area businesses, Mironov added.
The summer program of free events at Etra Lake Park include:
Sunday, July 21 – 6 p.m. – “All About Joel”, a Billy Joel Tribute Band. The band features veteran piano playing and lead vocals performing the music of Billy Joel, one of the greatest piano players of
all times.
Sunday, July 28 – 6 p.m. – “80’s Revolution” will perform, playing all genres of the 80’s. The group puts on an electric show dressed in full 80’s style, covering favorite artists such as Whitney Houston, Bon Jovi, Cher, Madonna, Journey, Michael Jackson and more.
Saturday, Aug. 10 – 7 p.m. – “Family-Night-In-The-Park” will feature a large screen viewing of the newly released Universal Studios computer animated comedy/adventure film “Migration.”
On Sunday, Aug. 18 – 6 p.m. – “Frontiers,” the world’s number one tribute band to Journey, will perform. These five talented, skilled, renowned New York City area musicians recreate the music of Journey to perfection, note for note. The program will include Journey’s timeless, chart topping hits such as “Open Arms,” “Separate Ways,” “Send Her My Love,” and “Faithfully.”

If there is inclement weather for the concerts (July 21, July 28 and August 18) the program will be moved indoors to the East Windsor Regional School District Melvin Kreps School auditorium.
