The Steinert High School Marching Unit capped off its fall season on Sunday, Nov. 1 by capturing the New Jersey Tournament of Bands (TOB) Group 2A State Championship at Toms River High School East.
Competing against a competitive field of 18 bands, Steinert claimed the top spot with a score of 95.420. In addition to taking home the championship trophy, the Marching Unit earned specialty awards for Group 2A, for Best Visual, Best Color Guard and Best Music.
The state title serves as the grand finale to a dominant 2026 season for the Spartans. Out of their competitive appearances, the band earned four first-place finishes and one second-place finish before taking the state title.
Steinert’s success extended beyond state borders this fall. Across the entire Atlantic coast—which encompasses 48 competing bands in TOB’s Group 2A—the Steinert Marching Unit held the single highest score in the region for three out of the four weeks they competed this season beginning with their first competition on Wednesday September 30th at West Windsor- Plainsboro North, a makeup from the rainy weekend of September 26th.
“This championship is a testament to the immense dedication, hard work, and passion our students and instructors poured into every rehearsal and performance,” said a news release. “To perform at such a high level consistently and bring home the state title is an incredible achievement for our school and community.”
“The Steinert High School Marching Unit extends its sincere gratitude to the Hamilton Township community, school administration, parents, and the Steinert Marching Unit Parents Association for their unwavering support throughout this unforgettable season.” the release stated.
