The Hillsborough Township Committee approved a $9 million bond ordinance to fund improvements to various township roads, according to a release through Hillsborough Township.
Mayor Robert Britting announced which roads would be repaired due to the bond at a meeting in May.
The following roads are currently out for bidding and could be paved as early as the summer:
- Fairfield Lane – Phase 2
- Valinor Road
- Hunt Club Road
- Harford Place
- Stonewain Street
In addition, Amsterdam Drive (Phase 3) will soon be going out to bid. The engineering department is waiting for New Jersey Department of Transportation Local Aid approval of the revised plans prepared by Pennoni Associates. This is due to Somerset County paving the north end between Amwell Road and Schilke Lane. The township cost after the grant is approximately $275,000.
The following roads will be going to bid this summer for paving by the fall:
- Township Line Road (between Montgomery border and Belle Glades Lane)
- White Meadow Road
- Spring Valley Road (between White Meadow Road and Winding Way)
- Pleasant View Road (between Amwell Road and AVM Park)
- Camden Road
- Auten Road (between railroad and New Centre Road)
- Starview Drive
- Murray Drive
- Ski Drive
- Dogwood Drive
Pennoni is preparing plans to repave Auten Road between the railroad and Triangle Road, which will be submitted to NJDOT Local Aid for approval. This work should be bid this summer for fall paving. The township cost after the grant is approximately $315,000.
The Engineering Department is also looking into utilizing high-performance chip seal or slurry seal on roads that meet the engineering requirements.
The estimated cost of all the above road improvements is $4 to $4.5 million dollars.
“We are pleased to be able to provide relief for residents and travelers who frequent those roads,” Britting said.
