A Lawrenceville man was charged with multiple motor vehicle violations, including driving under the influence, after he nearly struck several vehicles on Route 31 at 4:24 p.m. Aug. 7, according to the Hopewell Township Police Department.
A passerby told a police officer that his vehicle had nearly been struck by a yellow van. He reported that the van was being driven erratically and had nearly struck several vehicles head-on.
The police officer checked the area and located the van on the northbound shoulder of Route 31 near Mine Road. It was facing southbound.
In addition to being charged with driving under the influence, the driver was charged with driving while suspended, reckless driving, failure to keep right, failure to possess proof of insurance, failure to posses proof of registration, and failure to notify the Motor Vehicle Commission of an address change.
He was also charged with consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, failure to use hazard signals and failure to surrender a driver’s license while suspended.
