The Board of Trustees of the Hopewell Harvest Fair announced the winner of the annual Cover Art Contest on Aug. 26. Laura Warne, winner of this year’s Cover Art Contest and recipient of the $250 prize, entered her quilted depiction of Hopewell Elementary School in autumn!
A Titusville-based painter and textile artist trained at Carnegie Mellon and the School of Visual Arts in New York, Laura recently moved to Hopewell Valley and has quickly embraced its art community. Her work draws on a longtime fascination with quilts and historical textiles as records of the often-forgotten women who made them, and her winning piece incorporates an antique lace doily passed down through her family. Her work will be featured on the much-awaited Hopewell Harvest Fair Almanac, which is now available locally. Honorable mentions of other notable entrees can be found on page 44 of the almanac.
The Harvest Fair returns to the grounds of Hopewell Elementary School on Saturday September 19 from 9:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It’s a cherished local tradition, attracting fair-goers from all over the area to enjoy a day of old-fashioned fun, while raising critical funds for local non-profits.

The Fair bolsters community spirit during the event as well as throughout the year, by providing scholarships for local students and generous grants for many local nonprofit organizations. The Hopewell Harvest Fair Community Grant Program has dispersed more than $234,000 to local nonprofits including Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, local school PTOs, HomeFront, Younity, The Chubby’s Project, Sourland Conservancy, and many others.
