Deputy Municipal Manager Christopher Longo has been appointed Acting Municipal Manager to fill in for Municipal Manager Kevin Nerwinski, who is on an extended medical leave of absence.
Municipal Attorney Arthur Sypek Jr. made the announcement at the Lawrence Township Council’s Aug. 18 meeting. No additional information on Nerwinksi’s condition will be released, at his family’s request.
Longo is a former Lawrence Township police officer and retired as the police chief on Jan. 1, 2025. He was named to the newly created post of deputy municipal manager in December 2025.
Nerwinski, who grew up in Lawrence Township, has served as the municipal manager since 2017. He replaced former Municipal Manager Richard Krawczun.
Nerwinski has held several positions in Lawrence Township municipal government. He was an attorney in private practice before he began working for the township.
He served as the Lawrence Township Municipal Court prosecutor from 1996 to 2001, and as the municipal attorney from 2002 to 2011.
He was the Lawrence Township Municipal Court judge from 2011 until his appointment as the municipal manager in 2017.
