Rider University head wrestling coach John Hangey has been appointed to become the deputy athletic director, according to Rider University officials.
Hangey is stepping away from his head wrestling coach position on a temporary basis so he may work closely with consultant Christine Brown & Partners.
Christine Brown & Partners is supporting Rider University with leadership consultation, operational assessment and strategic planning needs while the university evaluates Rider University Athletics and its needs.
In Hangey’s place, the wrestling program will be led by associate head coach Nic Bedelyon. He will be assisted by assistant coaches Doug Umbehauer and Tyler Klinsky.
Also, Liz Sapudar has been named interim senior woman administrator for Athletics, taking on the additional leadership responsibility while also continuing to serve as academic coordinator for Athletics, officials said.
Rider University President John Loyack expressed appreciation to Hangey, Bedelyon and Sapudar for taking on the added responsibilities.
“We will continue to keep the Rider community informed as our work shape the future of Rider Athletics moves forward,” Loyack said.
