A 36-year-old Sussex woman was charged with theft and hindering for allegedly picking up a wallet that had been reported lost at ShopRite on Oct. 7, according to the Montgomery Township Police Department.

The suspect was observed on video surveillance cameras picking up the wallet and entering the bathroom. She left the bathroom, made a purchase and walked out of the store.

Another person went into the bathroom, found the wallet and gave it to store personnel. The victim returned to the store and picked up the wallet. The victim discovered that their driver’s license and two credit cards were missing.

During the investigation, police located the suspect in the parking lot. She was found to have the victim’s credit cards and other documents in her possession.

The suspect, who was found to be wanted on an active warrant from Totowa Borough Municipal Court, was processed and released.
