Robbinsville Extended Day expanded its summer offerings this year, adding a full-day Quantum Camp while filling every available seat in its Discover Kindergarten program.
The Robbinsville Public Schools program, known as RED, offered six weeks of academic enrichment, recreation and childcare from July 6 through Aug. 14 at Pond Road Middle School.
One of the biggest changes was the addition of a full-day option for Quantum Camp. The camp itself ran from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., but families could add care from 7 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 5 p.m., extending the day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Quantum Camp combined academics, enrichment and physical activity. Campers took part in Mad Science programs each weekday, with themes including Chemical Curiosities, Secret Agent Forensics Lab, LEGO Brixology and NASA-STEM Explorer.
SockeyHockey was offered during the first four weeks, followed by Jet Soccer during the final two weeks.
Afternoon activities included Brain Power Hour and Chess Club during the first four weeks and Yoga Club and Chess Club during the final two weeks.
RED also continued its Discover Kindergarten program for children entering kindergarten in September.
Offered in half-day and full-day formats, Discover Kindergarten was taught by certified district faculty and was designed to introduce children to school routines while giving them opportunities to meet classmates and take part in reading, drama, games, crafts and outdoor activities.
Each week featured a different theme, including beaches, dinosaurs, weather and seasons, colors, insects and the galaxy.
All 127 available seats in the program were filled this summer, with about 21 children participating each week.
RED founder and director Pamela Elmi said the demand could lead the district to consider expanding Discover Kindergarten for summer 2027.
“Our summer programs are about giving children a place where they can learn something new, build confidence, make friends and have fun while providing families with dependable, high-quality care,” Elmi said. “The response to Discover Kindergarten and the opportunities we were able to offer through our expanded Quantum Camp and other enrichment activities made this an especially rewarding summer.”
RED also offered before- and after-care for children enrolled in its programs, Robbinsville Township Recreation Camp and district summer programs.
Morning care ran from 7 to 9 a.m. and included breakfast and quiet activities. Afternoon care ran from 3 to 5 p.m. and included a snack and structured activities.
The program also reported a 99% retention rate among its part-time hourly staff this year and added two new staff members.
RED staff and security personnel participated in first aid and operational training Aug. 20 in preparation for the 2026-27 school year.
