There were seats open for Hillsborough Township Committee, Hillsborough Township Board of Education and fire district in the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
The vote tallies are unofficial until the Somerset County Clerk certifies them later this month. The vote tallies include early voting, mail-in ballots and Election Day voting.
Hillsborough Township Committee
Incumbent Republican incumbents Robert Britting Jr. and Shawn Lipani lead over Democratic candidates Hermes Vallejo and James VanderVliet.
Lipani has received 10,643 votes followed by Britting, who is currently serving as mayor, with 10,638 votes.
Vallejo and Vander Vliet have received 7,323 votes and 7,182 votes, respectively.
There are 43 write-in votes.
Hillsborough Board of Fire Commissioners
Three candidates vied for the two open seats in the election. Incumbent William J. Woodruff III leads with 9,462 votes, followed by incumbent Marian Fenwick-Shaffer with 6,250 votes. Sam Rozycki has received 4,826 votes. There are 73 write-in votes.
Hillsborough Township Board of Education
Five candidates vied for the three open seats in the election.
The three incumbent candidates lead. Jane M. Staats has received 7,973 votes, Elaine Jackson follows with 7,725 votes and Allison Laning-Beder has received 6,429 votes.
Candidate Diane Braungard-Galayda has received 4,890 votes and N. Jannah Hameed has received 4,580 votes. There are 137 write-in votes.
