William Richard (Ric) Haldane, Jr. 75 passed away from pancreatic sarcoma on October 23, 2024, surrounded by family.
Born in Huntington, West Virginia he lived in several states with his navy family until they settled in Princeton when he was 10. As a teenager, he volunteered at McCarter Theater and learned lighting designer skills. He graduated from Princeton High School ‘67 and studied at Temple University. As a young man he traveled the US as a lighting designer with the famous ballet companies of the world. He later owned Princeton Operational Aides and Mailing Company. He loved the outdoors (especially fishing and hunting turkey) and in his 30’s and 40’s bicycled all over the Northeast attending bicycle rallies (NEAR and GEAR). As a member of the Princeton Freewheelers Bicycle Club, for many years he donated his equipment and time supporting the Annual Princeton Bicycle Event (PFW.) He had a sharp wit and was skilled at fixing anything.
He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Nona (Bird) Haldane. He is survived by his wife, Peng Huan of Toms River, her daughter Wen Ji Zhu and 2 grand-daughters; his son Christopher Carson Haldane and grandchildren Ashlyn and Christoper Carson (CJ) Haldane, all of Magnolia, TX; his sisters, Suzanne Hyman (her husband Tom) and Cynthia Haldane of Peterboro, NH; his brother Scott Haldane of Boston; and his former wife Donna Carson of Trenton.
