Man charged with filing false police report

A 27-year-old Westville man was charged with filing a false report to police on Jan. 13 for allegedly reporting that his vehicle had been stolen, according to the East Windsor Police Department.

A detective received a report about a stolen vehicle on Jan. 8. The detective investigated the report and discovered that the vehicle had not been stolen, police said.

It was determined that the vehicle had been involved in a crash in Pennsylvania and recovered by the Pennsylvania State Police.

The man was charged on a complaint summons.
