Lawrence Middle School students Julia Roszkowski, Nia Lewis and Michelle Pierog earned top honors in Capital Health’s Post Positive public service announcement contest.
The students, along with teacher Jon-Erik Stamatelos, received the Best Messaging award for their video, “What You Say.” The video was selected from 547 submissions.
Post Positive was the 2025-26 campaign of Capital Health’s Capital Healthy Students initiative. Each year, middle school students are challenged to create a one-minute public service announcement on a health or wellness topic selected by Capital Health.
This year’s campaign asked students to create peer-to-peer messages promoting online kindness and demonstrating how one positive post can make a difference.
Lawrence Middle School received a $2,000 award for its PTO or PTA to support future student programs and activities.
Rebecca Kelly, executive director of strategic partnerships at Capital Health and leader of the Capital Healthy Students initiative, presented certificates to the students and Stamatelos.
“What I love most about this campaign is that the message comes directly from students themselves,” Kelly said. “Julia, Nia and Michelle didn’t just talk about the impact of negative posts, they showed it. By putting themselves in the video, they brought the message to life in a way that was both courageous and relatable.
“We’re truly grateful for dedicated teachers like Jon-Erik Stamatelos, whose support and enthusiasm inspire students to get involved and bring their ideas to life,” Kelly continued.
Other contest winners included Newtown Middle School for Most Impactful, Pennwood Middle School for Most Creative and Timberlane Middle School, which received an honorable mention.
Capital Healthy Students is an initiative developed by Capital Health to empower students to make healthy choices, build leadership skills and create positive change in their schools and communities.
Capital Health will launch its next PSA campaign, “Let’s Clear the Air: The Truth About Vaping,” this fall.
