Two vehicles were burglarized while they were parked on Stoutsburg Boulevard overnight between Aug. 25 and Aug. 26. One victim reported the theft of an Android cell phone and a JBL speaker, valued at a combined $300. There were no signs of forced entry to the vehicles.
A Trenton woman was charged with shoplifting, resisting arrest and hindering apprehension after police responded to a shoplifting in progress at Stop & Shop on Aug. 25. Police found two women in a car parked nearby that matched the description provided to them and observed a large amount of unbagged merchandise in the carl. The women got out of the car and fled on foot. One of the women was apprehended, but the other woman escaped. The woman was also found to have active warrants from Middlesex County, the City of Trenton and Lawrence, Ewing and Cherry Hill townships. She was processed and taken to the Mercer County Correction Center.
A Morrisville, Pa., man was charged with driving under the influence following a motor vehicle after a police officer observed the vehicle being driven erratically on Route 29 near Church Road at 1:38 a.m. Aug. 22. The driver was also charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain lane. He was processed and released.
Seven vehicles were burglarized overnight between Aug. 21 and Aug. 22 while they were parked at their owners’ homes in the Brandon Farms development. All of vehicles were unlocked. One victim reported the loss of $10 from the center console.
A Heritage Court resident reported an attempted burglary to her vehicle after discovering the driver’s side door handle had been damaged overnight between Aug. 21 and Aug. 22. Police officers found pry marks around the lock and a piece of plastic from the handle on the ground near the vehicle. Police searched the area and found three more vehicles with similar damage.
A victim reported the theft of her 2020 Hyundai Elantra sedan from the parking lot at the Birchwood at Hopewell apartment complex on Denow Road on Aug. 22. She told police that she had not driven the vehicle in about a month. Police found a detached vehicle ignition near the intersection of Van Brunt Road and Stephenson Road earlier in the day, which was determined to have come from the victim’s car. The vehicle was entered as stolen.
A Trenton man was arrested on active warrants from Bordentown, Ewing, Hamilton and Lawrence townships after he was stopped for speeding on Scotch Road on Aug. 22. He was also charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding and operating a motor vehicle without a license. He was processed and taken to the Mercer County Correction Center.
A Phillipsburg woman was charged with driving under the influence and other violations after police investigated reports of a driver who was driving northbound in the southbound lane on Route 579 at 4:15 p.m. Aug. 21. A police officer found the vehicle, which was parked near the entrance to the Harbourton Cemetery. The woman was also charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. She was processed and released.
A Trenton man was arrested on an active warrant from Absecon following a motor vehicle stop on Route 579 on Aug. 18. He was observed to be driving a commercial box truck that appeared to exceed the posted weight limit for the road. He was also issued a summons for the truck route violation. He was processed and released.
A New Brunswick man was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane and failure to exhibit a medical authorization card for window tint following a motor vehicle stop on Route 31 at 2 p.m. on Aug. 16. A police officer stopped the vehicle after police received numerous reports that the vehicle was being driven erratically. The man was processed and released.
