Hopewell Township man charged with attempted homicide

A 47-year-old Hopewell Township man has been charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and weapons offenses in connection with an incident at a Pleasant Valley Road home on Jan. 19, according to the Hopewell Township Police Department.

Police were called to the Pleasant Valley Road home at 3:49 a.m. Jan. 19 in response to a 9-1-1 call from the home and another 9-1-1 call for a disturbance outside a neighbor’s home, police said.

Police officers arrived and took control of the scene. They also apprehended the suspect near a wooded area on the Pleasant Valley Road property where the incident took place.

A victim was identified and taken to the hospital for medical attention, and was later reported to be in stable condition.

In addition to the charges of attempted homicide and aggravated assault, the man was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police said there is no danger to public safety, but additional details about the incident are being withheld at this time.
