Man charged with driving while intoxicated after crash

A 40-year-old South River man was charged with driving while intoxicated and eight additional violations after police were sent to investigate a vehicle that was parked on the sidewalk on Riverside Drive, according to the Princeton Police Department.

Police found the vehicle and its driver when they responded at 5:18 a.m. Jan. 12, and determined that the man had allegedly been driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The investigation revealed that he had been involved in a crash on Prospect Avenue before his vehicle came to rest on the sidewalk on Riverside Drive, police said.

The man was also charged with refusal to submit to a breath test, having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and having an unsafe vehicle, police said.

He was also charged with failure to maintain lane, failure to keep right, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident.

He was processed and released.
