A Lawrence Township man was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving and failure to submit to chemical breath testing Nov. 16 after police responded to ShopRite to investigate reports of an intoxicated man on the property. He was processed and released.

A victim reported Nov. 15 that he lost $2,125 to a scammer involving a job opening. The victim received an email about a job opening. The scammer forwarded funds to the victim’s bank account. The victim was told to send the amount that was forwarded, plus additional money, to another person to pay for supplies for the job via Zelle. He realized something was wrong when he checked his bank account and discovered it was overdrawn.

A victim reported Nov. 12 that someone posing as an agent for the Federal Trade Commission told her to send money, or an arrest warrant would be issued as the result of an investigation into money laundering and fraud through electronic means. The victim’s identity was confirmed to have been compromised, but no money was lost.

Copper piping was reported cut and stolen from an air conditioning unit at a commercial property on Route 31. It was reported Nov. 11, but it is not known when the incident of theft and criminal mischief occured.

Firefighters extinguished a brush fire Nov. 7 at the Hopewell Valley golf course. The fire was located in the area of the driving range, near a wooded area.

A victim reported that a thief had used their Social Security number to open a line of credit in Maryland. The outstanding debt was turned over to a collections agency, which affected the victim’s credit score. The incident was reported Nov. 5.
