Man killed crossing Route 130, driver charged with DWI

A 31-year-old East Windsor Township man was killed after he was struck by a car as he attempted to cross Route 130 on foot near the Americana Kitchen and Bar Nov. 6, according to the East Windsor Police Department.

The pedestrian was struck by a Honda CRV driven by a 49-year-old Monroe Township resident, police said. He was attempting to cross Route 130 from west to east when he was struck by the northbound vehicle in the righthand lane of travel.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, despite life-saving efforts made by police officers and emergency medical technicians, police said.

The driver was charged with driving while intoxicated in the incident, which is still under investigation.

The East Windsor Police Department, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office and the East Windsor Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 responded. Emergency medical technicians and paramedics from Capital Health Systems also responded.
