Two West Windsor teens suffer life-threatening injuries in crash

Two West Windsor Township residents were trapped in a 2024 Tesla Model Y electric vehicle after it left the road and struck a tree on Lanwin Boulevard near Providence Drive at 3:49 a.m. Aug. 20, according to the West Windsor Police Department.

The impact caused significant intrusion into the passenger compartment of the Tesla, trapping the driver and passenger inside the vehicle, police said. First responders immediately began efforts to extricate them from the vehicle.

The driver and front seat passenger suffered life-threatening injuries. Life-saving efforts were made by emergency medical technicians from the West Windsor Division of Fire & Emergency Services, the Robbinsville EMS and East Windsor EMS and paramedics from Capital Health Systems, police said.

The victims were taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton.

Firefighters from the West Windsor Volunteer Fire Co. and the Princeton Junction Volunteer Fire Co. responded to the scene. The West Windsor Division of Fire & Emergency Services also went to the scene, in addition to the Robbinsville and East Windsor EMS units and the Capital Health Medical Systems paramedics.

Lanwin Boulevard was closed for about six hours during the investigation. The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Serious Collision Response Team was dispatched and helped with the investigation.
