People have been using a new section pedestrian pathway in Montgomery Township along Skillman Road since late summer.

That new section of the pathway received an official ribbon cutting on Oct. 16 as Mayor Neena Singh was joined by township officials and local seniors to celebrate the new pathway improving connections between Otto Kaufman Community Center (OKCC), Montgomery High School and neighboring areas.

“We’ve heard residents’ feedback and are making improvements to pedestrian and bicycle accessibility a priority in Montgomery,” Singh said. “These enhancements are incremental, but with each one we are making our community safer and easier to walk around.”

The project cost for the new sections totaled $277,000 with funding supported in part by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (NJDCA). NJDCA contributed $55,000 towards the project through their local recreation improvement grant program and the township funded the remaining $222,000 from its open space fund.
