Woman struck by car, dies several days later

A 68-year-old Princeton woman died several days after she was struck by a car that was backing out of a parking space at the Town Center Plaza parking lot, according to the East Windsor Police Department.

The woman and a 39-year-old Princeton man were walking across the parking lot Nov. 7 when the 94-year-old driver of the car lost control after accidentally pushing on the accelerator pedal, police said.

The woman suffered significant bodily injuries and was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, where she died several days after the crash, police said.

The other pedestrian suffered non-life threatening injuries and was also taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center.

The driver was charged with careless driving in the incident, which is still under investigation, police said.

The East Windsor Police Department, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, and Capital Health Systems emergency medical technicians and paramedics responded to the scene.
