Hopewell Township Committee members have awarded a $499,913 contract for the Wood Recycling Center stormwater management improvement project.
The Township Committee awarded the bid to Earle Asphalt, a civil construction and asphalt production firm out of Farmingdale, NJ, during a Sept. 14 regular meeting.
The township received four bids for project.
“There is an area on a municipal complex where public works stores leaves that have collected on the roadways and brush that is collected in the neighborhoods. With the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection stormwater regulations that area requires stormwater management upgrades,” Township Administrator George Snyder said.
“The town did go out to bid…Earle Asphalt came in at the lowest bidder. Our consultant engineer reviewed the bids and recommended the award. We did receive a $35,000 grant for the design of this project.”
The stormwater improvements in the project include site clearing, soil erosion and sediment control, bioretention soil mixture, a basin sand layer, monitoring well sign and post, bioretention bottom seed, bioretention side slope seed, erosion control blanket.
