An investigation led by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department, as well as Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbey and Trenton Police Director, Steve Wilson, led to the arrest of Trenton man, Donnell Carmicheal, 38.
After surrendering himself to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office on July 1 Carmicheal was charged with one count of first degree murder.. Currently, he is being held at the Mercer County Correction Center in Hopewell. The prosecutor’s office has filed a motion to detain Carmicheal pending trial and a hearing is scheduled for July 17.
On March 19, 2026, Trenton resident, Anthony White, 35, was reported missing by family members. On April 1, 2026, White was found deceased in a vacant residence on Walnut Avenue.. An autopsy conducted by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that White’s death was a homicide caused by blunt impact injuries and strangulation.
Although Carmicheal was charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
