Man faces drug charges

A 41-year-old Matawan man is facing multiple drug charges after police responded to investigate reports of a white box truck that was stopped in the middle of Dutch Neck Road at 6:35 p.m. March 31, according to the East Windsor Police Department.

The truck was obstructing traffic in the area of 191 Dutch Neck Road and the driver was asleep at the wheel, police said. Upon investigation, the driver allegedly showed signs of narcotics use and impairment.

The investigation revealed that the man was allegedly in possession of suspected heroin and suspected prescription drugs, police said.

The man was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and unlawful possession of prescription drugs, police said.

He was also charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain lane and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

He was charged on a complaint summons, pending court action.
