Lawrence Township officials are applying for a state grant for $610,810 to repave three streets in the village of Lawrenceville.
The Lawrence Township Council approved a resolution seeking a grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation to pay for the work on Gordon Avenue, Phillips Avenue and Craven Lane at its May 21 meeting.
The project would provide for a mill-and-overlay or reconstruction of the three streets, township officials said. A mill-and-overlay project would remove the top layer of asphalt from the road surface and apply a thin layer of asphalt over it.
Gordon Avenue would be improved from Route 206/Main Street to Village Park. Striped bicycle lanes would be added from its intersection with Bergen Street to Village Park.
The entire length of Phillips Avenue and Craven Lane would be improved from Route 206/Main Street to the end of the pavement. Both are dead-end streets.
The estimated cost of the project is $610,810, which is the same amount being sought by the grant.
