A new dedicated left-turn lane from Route 206 onto Lawrenceville-Pennington Road has been completed, according to Municipal Manager Kevin Nerwinski.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation, which controls Route 206, completed the striping for the left turn lane on Nov. 25. Township officials had been advocating for a left turn lane for years.

Despite the “No left turn” signs that had been attached to the traffic signal at the intersection, some motorists had disregarded the signs.

Adding a dedicated left turn lane will eliminate traffic congestion, Nerwinski said. Motorists traveling north on Route 206 and who wanted to turn left onto Lawrenceville-Pennington Road had to use the jughandle, which frequently cause traffic to back up on it.
