A 50-year-old Whiting man and a 38-year-old Brick Township woman are facing drug-related charges and other offenses following an investigation into a suspicious tractor-trailer in the East Windsor Town Center parking lot on Route 130, according to the East Windsor Police Department.

A police officer responded to the parking lot at 1:17 p.m. Feb. 26 following a report of a tractor-trailer that had been idling for several hours. The driver was hunched over the steering wheel and was initially unresponsive.

The woman passenger woke up the driver, and both were instructed to get out of the truck.

The police officer noticed signs of narcotics activity, and the Robbinsville Township Police Department responded with its K-9 unit. The dog gave a positive indication to the presence of narcotics. A search of the truck revealed suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia.

The two suspects were charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance.

The man was also charged with driving under the influence, careless driving, reckless driving, having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and driving with a suspended commercial driver’s license.

The woman was also charged with hindering apprehension for providing the officer with a fake name. She was also found to be wanted on active warrants from Toms River, Lawrence, Robbinsville and Brick Township.

They were processed and released.
